The City of Marion had three pockets of unsewered areas that were inside the City Limits that they wished to connect to the collection system. These areas could not flow by gravity or they likely would have been connected years ago. Therefore, Eclipse Engineers’ challenge was to determine the best way to connect these small groups of homes.

Through cooperation and discussions with the City, it was decided to connect two of the three areas with conventional submersible pump stations and the third area was to be connected with residential simplex grinder pumps. A highway encroachment permit was required to install a force main through the state right-of-way for two of the three areas. With that, this project involved close coordination with the Kentucky Department of Highways.
