The East Ninth Street area of downtown is fed from two directions with 8-inch waterlines. However, the waterlines connecting these two feeds are an aging 6-inch cast iron line and a 2-inch galvanized line. Water capacity is low at peak times of usage and the 2-inch galvanized line experiences frequent breaks.

LUC will replace these existing lines with a new 8-inch ductile iron line which will increase dynamic pressure and should greatly reduce maintenance. New fire hydrants will replace existing hydrants that have been unreliable at times and new service line connections will be made during the waterline replacement as well.
