The City of Marion wanted to provide sanitary sewer service to approximately 25 homes, a restaurant, an RV park, and the Marion-Crittenden County Airport with this project. Many of the homes in this area had experienced failing septic systems. The entire area was served by constructing approximately 4,300 feet of 8-inch gravity sewer, 21 manholes, and two pump stations. As Marion grows to the west as is projected, this sanitary sewer extension will be capable of conveying the additional flow.

A neighborhood meeting was conducted to discuss the proposed project and homeowner’s questions were answered during this meeting. Close coordination with the Kentucky Department of Highways was required as many of the new lines and manholes were placed inside the state right-of-way. Both phases of this project were funded by KIA grants through the KY General Assembly.
